Cheesy and delicious.
1 box (1.1 pounds), 2 sheets ready to bake Frozen Puff Pastry Sheets, thawed
8 Berks All Beef Franks or Grill Franks
1/3 cup marinara sauce, plus more for dipping
1 cup shredded mozzarella
24 pepperoni slices
8 basil leaves
2 Tablespoons grated parmesan
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with foil, spray with non-stick cooking spray.
Unfold the pastry sheets onto a lightly floured surface. Using a rolling pin, roll the sheets so they are each about a 1/2" wider all around. Cut each sheet into 4 squares.
Using a spoon, divide the marinara sauce over the 8 pastry squares, making sure to spread the sauce on each square. Divided the mozzarella over the sauce onto each square. Place 3 pepperoni slices onto the cheese and finally put a basil leaf on each square on top of the pepperoni. Put a frank on the edge of each pastry square, and roll the pastry over the frank, creating a casing. Pinch the sides making sure to completely seal. Gently pinch the seam of each calzone to make sure that they won't open during baking.
Put the calzones onto the baking sheet, seam side down. Spray the calzones with non-stick cooking spray, and sprinkle some parmesan over each calzone. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes, until the calzones are golden brown. Serve warm with extra marinara sauce for dipping.
